Any malfunctioning part is replaced and put into subassemblies. The subassemblies are adjusted, tested and assembled into the transmission case...and that assembly is tested again. Once the transmission is tested, it is then reinstalled into the vehicle. Adding to the process is the fact that most transmissions are now computer controlled, which makes the transmission dependent on other systems.
